A recent study conducted by the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Guangzhou, China, has revealed new findings on the genetic diversity and interspecific transmission of circovirus in Rhizomys sinensis, a species of rodent. The study identified three different circoviruses in samples from 195 Rhizomys sinensis, including the bamboo rat circovirus, porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2), and a novel circovirus phylogenetically close to the dromedary stool-associated circular ssDNA virus.
