Abstract

Fortune Global 500 companies are increasingly making commitments to nature and natural capital, although progress remains incremental. While carbon reduction targets are the primary focus, companies are also setting targets for water, biodiversity, and chemicals and plastics. However, action on nature-related issues beyond carbon varies by industry and region. The analysis suggests that about one in five companies now track three or more dimensions of nature in their reporting. Manufacturing and transport sectors have seen the most significant increase in commitments, while Europe leads in target setting for multiple dimensions. Overall, corporate movement on nature targets remains relatively understated. [Extracted from the article]
