Abstract

This article discusses the creation of a temperature rug, which uses fiber art to represent temperature data and explore the concept of climate change. The author wanted to create a rug that compared temperatures from 1922 to 2022 in the Washington, DC area to see if there was evidence of warming. They used different colors of yarn to represent temperature ranges and relied on data from the National Weather Service for their project. The author faced challenges in selecting colors, hooking the rug, and creating a graph and lettering. The finished rug is large and heavy, and the author hopes to exhibit it to spark discussions about climate change. [Extracted from the article]
