Abstract
- A recent study conducted by Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea, has found that mammography, commonly used for breast cancer screening, can also predict cardiovascular disease. The researchers developed a mammography-based deep learning model to predict coronary artery calcium (CAC) scores, which are an established predictor of coronary events. The model showed promising results and performed comparably to conventional risk models, suggesting that mammography has the potential for dual-risk assessment in breast cancer and cardiovascular disease. However, further research is needed to validate these findings in diverse populations. [Extracted from the article]
