Abstract

A recent report from the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University in China discusses the origins of POEMS syndrome, a rare disorder. The research explores the debate over whether the syndrome originates from abnormal plasma cell clones or B cells. The report presents a case study of a 65-year-old male patient with POEMS syndrome and monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis. The patient achieved a complete response after treatment with a combination of bendamustine plus rituximab (BR) and low-dose lenalidomide. The study concludes that further research is needed to understand the pathological mechanisms and develop effective therapies for POEMS syndrome. [Extracted from the article]
