Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Dalian Medical University in China suggests that modifying the intestinal microbiota could be a new way to treat Alzheimer's disease (AD). The researchers found that the treatment of dominant gut microbiota significantly restored the abundance and composition of the intestinal microbiota in mice with AD, leading to a reduction in brain tissue inflammation and amyloid plaque deposition. This study provides a new therapeutic concept for AD treatment and suggests that adjusting the intestinal microecological balance through dominant gut microbiota may be an alternative to fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT).
