Abstract

A report from Fukui Prefectural University in Japan discusses the findings of a study on interpersonal stress generation among young adolescents. The study aimed to examine the unique contributions of vulnerable and resilient interpersonal behaviors to the occurrence of negative and positive peer events. The researchers found that social withdrawal predicted more negative peer events for boys and fewer positive peer events for both boys and girls. Excessive reassurance-seeking predicted both more negative and more positive peer events for boys and girls, while prosocial behavior predicted more positive peer events for both genders. These findings contribute to our understanding of stress generation processes and have implications for adolescent development and well-being. [Extracted from the article]
