Abstract

A new report discusses research findings on lupus nephritis, a kidney disease associated with systemic lupus erythematosus. The study conducted by researchers at Hirosaki University in Japan focuses on the expression of interferon-stimulated gene 20 (ISG20) in glomerular endothelial cells and its possible involvement in lupus nephritis. The researchers found that ISG20 expression was increased in these cells when treated with certain agonists, and it was also observed in biopsy specimens from patients with proliferative lupus nephritis. The study suggests that ISG20 may play a role in inducing glomerular inflammation in patients with lupus nephritis. [Extracted from the article]
