Abstract

This article provides a quick guide to the different types of ice found on Earth's poles and highest peaks. It explains that Antarctica and Greenland are covered by ice sheets, which are vast, frozen blankets formed from compacted snow. These ice sheets are always moving, with some areas flowing very slowly and others moving much faster. The Arctic Ocean is covered by a thinner layer of sea ice, which forms during winter and melts during the warmer months. Glaciers, on the other hand, can be found in mountain ranges worldwide and are fed by snowfall. They flow down valleys and provide water to rivers, lakes, and cities. The article also briefly mentions other types of ice, such as ice shelves, icebergs, and firn. [Extracted from the article]
