Abstract

The Punjab government is considering drastic measures to address the issue of smog in Lahore and other parts of central Punjab. One recent step taken is the imposition of smart lockdowns in smog-hit cities, similar to measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, some business leaders have expressed concerns about the impact on their livelihoods. The government is also exploring the use of artificial rain through cloud seeding as a potential solution. Experts believe that long-term measures are needed, including motivating farmers to adopt better waste management practices and implementing stricter regulations on emissions. The government should also promote sustainable energy sources and discourage the conversion of farmland into housing societies. [Extracted from the article]
