Abstract

A recent study conducted in Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, and Ghana aimed to collect data on the burden of multiple skin Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). The study involved integrated case searches for yaws and other skin conditions in endemic health districts. Out of the 61,080 individuals screened, 18.6% had skin lesions, with the majority being children aged 15 and under. The study found that the proportion of serologically confirmed yaws cases varied across the three countries, with scabies and superficial fungal infections being the most common conditions. The study suggests that integrated screening can effectively detect multiple skin-NTDs and optimize resource utilization. [Extracted from the article]
