Studies from Gujarat Add New Findings in the Area of Atrial Fibrillation (Impact of Atrial Fibrillation on Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction: An Observational Cross-sectional Study from Western India).

A new study from Gujarat, India explores the impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The study found that AF and HFpEF often coexist and have overlapping symptoms and risk factors, making it challenging to diagnose HFpEF in AF patients. The study included 40 patients and found that AF patients had higher levels of NT-proBNP, greater left ventricular dysfunction, more prevalence of pulmonary artery hypertension, and higher degrees of diastolic dysfunction compared to patients with sinus rhythm.
