Abstract

This article discusses the challenges faced by the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, particularly in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. The remote communities in this region, which are predominantly rural and historically Amazigh (Berber), have experienced significant destruction and loss of life. The High Atlas Mountains, despite being rich in natural resources, have been neglected and marginalized for decades, resulting in low incomes, limited access to education and healthcare, and a lack of infrastructure. The article emphasizes the resilience of these communities and the importance of preserving their cultural heritage while providing support and investment for their recovery and development.
