Abstract

Chinese police have arrested Chen Shaojie, the founder of DouYu International Holdings Ltd., a game-streaming company. Chen was detained on or around November 16th on charges of hosting gambling. This arrest comes after regulators began investigating pornography and gambling on DouYu's platform. DouYu, one of China's largest streaming video services, has seen its revenue decline for six consecutive quarters and is now valued at less than $300 million. Chen's arrest is part of a broader crackdown on internet content by the Chinese government. [Extracted from the article]
