Abstract
- Researchers at McMaster University have published a report on the use of oral direct thrombin inhibitors or oral factor Xa inhibitors compared to conventional anticoagulants for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The research found that these inhibitors reduce major bleeding but do not reduce the risk of recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE) compared to conventional anticoagulants. The study was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine and has been peer-reviewed. For more information, readers can contact Alexander P. Benz at McMaster University. [Extracted from the article]
