Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China explored the metabolic pathways and potential therapeutic effects of two components of Astragalus membranaceus, a traditional Chinese medicine used for cardiovascular diseases. The study identified metabolites of formononetin and ononin in rat liver and urine samples, respectively, and analyzed their pharmacological activities. The findings suggest that these metabolites, particularly Sm10 and Sm12, may have potential roles in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The study utilized network pharmacology and molecular docking to evaluate the binding activities of the metabolites with specific receptors related to cardiovascular diseases.
