Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Wuhan Mental Health Center in China examined the efficacy and safety of agomelatine in treating patients with depressive disorder. The researchers analyzed data from 10 randomized controlled trials and found that agomelatine was more effective than a placebo in reducing depressive symptoms. However, there was high heterogeneity among the studies, so a subgroup analysis was conducted, which showed that the heterogeneity became insignificant after excluding certain studies. The researchers also found that agomelatine had fewer adverse events compared to the placebo. This study suggests that agomelatine may be a promising treatment option for depressive disorder.
