Abstract

This study presents the development of a novel, disposable electrochemical sensor for the determination of tartrazine in sports drinks. The sensor is based on a glassy carbon electrode modified with Co<subscript>3</subscript>O<subscript>4</subscript> and an electropolymerized molecular imprinting polymer film of acrylamide. Using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry, the sensor displayed outstanding selectivity and sensitivity towards tartrazine. Two linear ranges, 80 nM to 1 µM and 1 µM to 10 µM, were obtained with a detection limit of 33 nM. The sensor proved to be reliable in complex matrices, with recovery rates ranging from 94.0 to 107.0% and a relative standard deviation of less than 4%. The sensor, which does not require pre-treatment, offers a rapid, economical, and easily controllable approach to tartrazine detection in sports drinks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
