Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Liaoning Normal University in China explores the relationship between teacher-student relationships and externalizing problem behaviors among rural Chinese adolescents. The study found that a positive teacher-student relationship can have a protective effect against the development of externalizing problem behaviors. Peer relationships and mental health were identified as mediators in this relationship, and parental knowledge was found to moderate the impact of the teacher-student relationship on externalizing problem behaviors. The study suggests that nurturing teacher-student relationships, fostering inclusive peer environments, emphasizing mental health literacy, and involving caregivers in interventions can help mitigate externalizing behaviors among rural adolescents.
