Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan compared the outcomes of two different biliary reconstruction methods in pediatric living donor liver transplantation. The study found that duct-to-duct biliary reconstruction (DD) was as safe and effective as Roux-en-Y hepatic jejunectomy (HJ) in terms of 5-year survival rates and the incidence of biliary complications. However, the HJ group had a higher rate of intestinal complications. The researchers concluded that DD could be a safe method for biliary reconstruction in pediatric recipients, with a reduced risk of intestinal complications. [Extracted from the article]
