Abstract

This article discusses Jerry Strangarity's HO scale model railroad layout, which is set in eastern Pennsylvania during the 1930s and '40s. The layout features a mix of steam and early diesel locomotives and includes scenes of heavy industrial areas, small towns, and rural settings. Jerry has spent many years building and refining his layout, which is located in his finished basement. He has used a variety of techniques and materials to create realistic scenery and structures, including scratchbuilding, kitbashing, and kit-building. Jerry operates his layout using a Lenz Digital Command Control System and enjoys running various types of trains during operating sessions. Overall, Jerry has successfully recreated the look and feel of the Reading Co. in eastern Pennsylvania on his model railroad. [Extracted from the article]
