Abstract

This article, published in the journal Neuropediatrics, examines the frequency of antibody-mediated autoimmune encephalitis (AE) in children with suspected encephalitis. The researchers reviewed medical records of 1,341 children treated in Hannover and Oldenburg between 2011 and 2020. They found that antibody-mediated AE was not frequent in children, but suggested that further testing for serum MOG antibodies should be included in diagnostic criteria. The study highlights the need for continued research to identify other potential antibodies involved in AE in children. [Extracted from the article]
