Abstract

A study conducted at Jilin People's Hospital in China investigated the use of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with a single-operator cholangioscopy system (SOC) for the treatment of acute cholecystitis secondary to choledocholithiasis. The study included 25 patients and found that the procedure was safe and effective, with a success rate of 92% and a mean procedure time of 36.6 minutes. No adverse events occurred, and there were no recurrences of cholecystitis during the follow-up period. The researchers concluded that ERCP+SOC could be a feasible alternative treatment for this condition, offering advantages such as reduced postoperative pain and a shorter hospital stay.
