Abstract

A recent pilot study conducted at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil aimed to assess the impact of Sjogren's syndrome (SS) on the quality of life and psychological well-being of individuals with the condition. The study compared a group of seven individuals with a diagnosis of SS to a control group of seven individuals with symptoms of dry mouth. The results showed that individuals with SS experienced a strong negative impact on their quality of life, particularly in terms of functional limitation and physical pain. Additionally, a significant number of individuals in the SS group exhibited severe levels of depression, anxiety, and stress. These findings highlight the importance of addressing the psychological and oral health needs of individuals with SS. [Extracted from the article]
