Research Data from University of Sao Paulo Update Understanding of Sjogren's Syndrome (Assessment of depression, stress, anxiety and oral health-related quality of life in individuals with sjogren's syndrome: case control pilot study).

A recent pilot study conducted at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil aimed to assess the impact of Sjogren's syndrome (SS) on the quality of life and psychological well-being of individuals with the condition. The study compared a group of seven individuals with a diagnosis of SS to a control group of seven individuals with symptoms of dry mouth. The results showed that individuals with SS experienced a strong negative impact on their quality of life, particularly in terms of functional limitation and physical pain. Additionally, a significant number of individuals in the SS group exhibited severe levels of depression, anxiety, and stress.
