Abstract
- A preprint abstract discusses the development of the Brain Injury Knowledge Ontology (BIKO) to address the methodological variance in traumatic brain injury (TBI) research. TBI is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States, but there are currently no effective clinical therapeutics for this injury. The BIKO aims to create a standardized model to describe the methods and outcome measures used in preclinical and clinical TBI therapy studies, facilitating comparison across studies and models. This ontology provides a machine-readable way to represent the methodologies used in TBI therapeutic studies and compare models across clinically relevant features. [Extracted from the article]
