Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Princess Noorah Oncology Center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, examined the prevalence and patterns of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use among cancer patients. The study found that over 50% of the participants used CAM, with the most common types being Zamzam water, Quran recitation, water read upon Quran, and black seed. The main reasons for CAM use were to treat cancer, increase immunity, and religious beliefs. Additionally, 5.8% of patients delayed their medical treatment to use CAM. The study suggests that further research is needed to understand CAM utilization patterns in Saudi Arabia. [Extracted from the article]
