Abstract

The authors propose a targeted response to the bioethical gaps in Canada that are fueling the increasing use of medical assistance in dying (MAiD) among the most vulnerable populations. Topics include an issue within the bioethical discourse surrounding MAiD in Canada, proposed ethical framework to counter the narrow approach of MAiD in addressing suffering, and significance of the integration of loving care, respect for freedom, and efficiency in a way that they are mutual reinforcing.
