Abstract

The article focuses on colloid milium which are small translucent yellowish lesions on skin. Samples of colloid materials and collagen and elastin were taken from patients with colloid milium and examined by means of paper chromatography. Hydroxyproline was found to be absent from the colloid and from a mixture of serum proteins or from individual serum protein fractions, but was present in both collagen and elastin. Acidic and basic amino acids were present in elastin and collagen. Glutamic acid was also found to be present in both collagen and elastin.
