Abstract
- This article describes the procedures which are employed to sustain a continuing professional relationship with those patients who have been under our care during childhood and now are entering adolescence. We begin by arranging a preliminary conference with the parents, to be followed by one with the boy or girl at the time of the annual office visit for a checkup. It is emphasized that an adolescent often needs a confidential relationship Parents, too, should have the opportunity to discuss, also in confidence, their questions and concerns about their adolescent son or daughter. This is the reason for this visit and others as necessary.with his doctor.
