Abstract
- The article discusses the reception of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism in China from 1910 to 1950. It highlights how these art movements served as a reference point for Chinese artists who aimed to learn from Western art. The article also explores the impact of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism on Chinese notions of Western art and its position within Chinese historiography, including several art historians Lionello Venturi,Neil McWilliam, and Michela Passini.
