Abstract
- The article reports that the New York Mercantile Exchange's aluminum contract enters a new age by entering in trading without the support of a market maker. Koch Supply & Trading LP's contract with the exchange expired recently. The relationship between Nymex and Houston-based Koch was ended by mutual consent after five years, during which little progress was made in terms of improving volumes traded on the exchange. Possibly buoyed by the strengthening volumes, Nymex and Koch decided to attempt to wean the market away from the security of a market maker.
