Abstract

Online education in its many forms has been in practice in several universities since the last decade. However, after the inception of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, its use throughout the world increased rapidly. This sudden and unexpected widespread adoption has brought about questions regarding its effectiveness and validity in many parts of the world, including Bangladesh. This sudden change was also implemented at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) with detailed planning to address various pedagogical and technical issues related to online education. It is still uncertain whether the measures adopted were adequate to meet intended learning outcomes. This paper offers this experience as a case study by investigating the attitudes of the learners of the UAP towards online education. The assumption is that their perceptions will reflect the effectiveness of this mode of learning and also indicate what future steps are needed to make this education platform successful.
