Abstract

This paper presents information on books related to library science. Primary Research Group released Best Practices of Public Library Information Technology Directors and Best Practices of Academic Library Information Technology Directors. Best Practices of Public Library Information Technology Directors covers such topics as Internet filtering, workstation management and development, equipment and vendor selection, database licensing, and Internet access policies. Best Practices of Academic Library Information Technology Directors is based on interviews with information technology directors and assistant directors of college and university libraries and consortiums. Some of the topics discussed are investment in and maintenance of workstations, implementation of wireless access, and policies toward laptops in the library. The Association of Research Libraries announced the availability of Open Access Bibliography: Liberating Scholarly Literature With E-Prints and Open Access Journals, by Charles W. Bailey Jr. It presents more than 1,300 English-language books, conference papers, debates, editorials, e-prints and other material useful in understanding the open access movement.
