Numerical solution of 2D PDF equation for random gas velocity as correlated color noise.

Abstract

The gas velocity random fluctuations generating model as a sum of two correlated random processes is studied. The random gas velocity components are modeled as the solution for stochastic ordinary differential equations system. The Eulerian and Lagrangian approaches for a continuous medium describing is considered. Direct numerical simulation of the studied process is implemented based on Lagrangian approach. The closed probability density function equation for a gas velocity random fluctuations is obtained using the Eulerian approach. A numerical approximation of the equation is proposed based on the finite volume method. The results of direct numerical simulation are in satisfactory agreement with the numerical solution for the probability density function equation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
