Abstract
- We propose photodynamic therapy (PDT) as an adjunct for recurrent or difficult to treat abscesses, or where placement of a drainage catheter is undesirable. I ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier i NCT02240498 Interventional radiological draining of abscesses has become the standard of care treatment for abscesses unresponsive to conservative management. 1Pre-procedure CT showing tubo-ovarian abscess (horizontal arrow) Therefore, the abscess was percutaneously drained and PDT was performed as part of an ongoing Phase 1 clinical trial.
