Abstract
- This special issue includes a selection of works covering a wide range of topics such as human-human, human-machine, human-animal and animal-animal vocal-based interactions. Jover & Gratier present three pilot studies of parent-infant dyadic multimodal interactions, with the aim of developing new methodological pathways for the study of early naturalistic social interaction. Almost all animals exploit vocal signals for a range of ecologically motivated purposes: from detecting predators/prey and marking territory, to expressing emotions, establishing social relations and sharing information.
