Abstract
- Besides inherent fullerene-like hollow spheres, the metallasupramolecular chemistry of pentaphosphaferrocenes and CuBr<subscript>2</subscript> afforded a conceptually new product, a compact 3.2 nm sized supramolecule [{1d}<subscript>6</subscript>(CuBr)<subscript>32</subscript>(CH<subscript>3</subscript>CN)<subscript>6</subscript>] formed by six largest pentaphosphaferrocene units [Cp<superscript>BIG</superscript>Fe(η<superscript>5</superscript>-P<subscript>5</subscript>)] (1d: Cp<superscript>BIG</superscript> = η<superscript>5</superscript>-C<subscript>5</subscript>(4-nBuC<subscript>6</subscript>H<subscript>4</subscript>)<subscript>5</subscript>) so far and a framework of 32 copper and 32 bromide ions.
