Abstract
- This paper describes resilient controls of a PMSM-based Tidal Stream Turbine (TST) with inter-turn faults. In this context, a simple dynamic model, derived for the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) with inter-turn fault, shows that traditional methods such as Proportional Integrator (PI) controllers are not effective in the case of a fault presence. So, the TST performances present a significant degradation. Therefore, the second-order sliding mode and the backstepping techniques have been adopted as fault-tolerant control approaches to address the robustness problem. TST system simulation under an inter-turn fault is evaluated and discussed using real tidal velocities of the Raz de Sein site in Bretagne, France. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
