Abstract

Analysis of the influence of transmission-line parameters and its unbalanced load on the voltage quality and energy losses in the line is performed. This research has been carried out on a standard IEEE four-node test model of an electrical network. Mathematical and algorithmic tools for studying of asymmetric operating modes of power-transmission lines are proposed and justified, combining the use of a specialized program for calculating the operating modes of power systems with UDSLF asymmetric loads with the Newton–Raphson method, this being one of the most effective tools for determining the roots of a system of nonlinear equations. The peculiarities of the influence of power-line load asymmetry on energy losses and voltage quality when changing power line and load parameters are illustrated. Ways to improve the efficiency of power-transmission lines with asymmetric loads are proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
