Abstract

Focuses on the strategies of the Soviet Union towards the U.S. during the Cold War. Information that the cold war is the latter-day adaptation of a conflict theory which is at least as old as recorded thought about political conflict; Argument that the Strategy of the Indirect Approach accords more readily with the moral attitudes and political institutions of a "closed" society than with those of an "open" society; Contention that in the cold war there are no sanctuaries.
