The literature produced is intended to be shared with the readership. The production of literary works relies on the author's ideas, thoughts, ideas, and feelings which are blended using the medium of language as a delivery channel. Language functions as a communication tool in conveying knowledge, ideas, opinions, and thoughts, expressing emotions and feelings through speech, gestures or body language, writing, drawing, and gestures. Accordingly, emotion is one of the underlying elements of a literary work. This is because emotional elements in literary works not only act as a channel of communication but also color and pattern the narration in the work. Therefore, this paper will discuss the character's emotional expression as the main character's communication vehicle in Hikayat Nakhoda Muda and Hikayat Parang Puting which is used as research data for this paper. This paper will use the method of library and analyzing research data. Therefore, research on emotional expression will be explore through facial expression, voice, behavior, and touch in communication.
