Abstract
- In ch. 2, building upon the existing research on agricultural production in Anatolia, Mehmet Öz carries out a more detailed and focused examination of a number of specific I sancak i s, with the aim of showing how this production was more diversified than previously assumed. This article is also different in nature to the preceding ones, inasmuch as it is a top-down examination of government control and involvement in large provincial business ventures, rather than providing a bottom-up view of "making a living" in Anatolia, as the earlier chapters endeavour to do.
