Abstract

For a reliable test result to be obtained the following (external) controls should be included for each series of nucleic acid extraction and amplification of the target organism and target nucleic acid, respectively: Negative isolation control (NIC) to monitor contamination during nucleic acid extraction: nucleic acid extraction and subsequent amplification preferably of a sample of uninfected matrix, or if not available clean extraction buffer.
