Abstract
- Discusses the report of Amitai Etzioni, director of the Center for Policy Research at the Columbia University in New York City to analyze the performance of a program to fight poverty in the country. Comparison of poverty programs under former U.S. Presidents, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower with the programs during the 1960s; Attempt of the government to change the attitude of poor people rather than simply create jobs for them; Focus of the government on the increasing demands of the military budget; Need for another national program to fight poverty.
