Abstract
- Thus, despite policy prohibiting free tobacco product samples, findings highlight how the cigar industry circumvents these marketing restrictions through cigar festivals and similar events. Although prohibitions on tobacco company sponsorship of events exist, it is clear that premium cigar manufacturers will continue to sponsor and promote their products at cigar festivals and events in the absence of product-specific enforcement under the TCA. For instance, how often does cigar festival marketing on social media circumvent social media tobacco marketing restrictions given that it is marketing an event and not a commercial tobacco product?.
