Abstract
- This study identifies leprosy reactions after COVID-19 infection in a population of patients with leprosy diagnoses in northern Mexico. In Brazil, most patients had a type 1 reaction (nine patients), and four patients had a type 2 reaction.[[1], [4], [6]] We searched our leprosy database of 111 patients (tuberculoid, lepromatous, indeterminate, or borderline) for cases in northern Mexico who had a leprosy reaction. Studies in COVID-19 patients have demonstrated increased pro-inflammatory activity of cytokines and chemokines.[1] Leprosy reactions and COVID-19 infection may share pathological inflammatory pathways.
