Abstract

Threshold between real and illusory space, the mirror is the favourite tool of those passionate about magic, a supernatural process that occupies many of the pages signed by Magda Isanos. The mirror becomes a recurring symbol in both universal literature and Romanian literature, appearing mainly in the texts of Mihai Eminescu and Lucian Blaga, literary personalities who represented models of the young Bessarabian poet. Around the mirror, the poetic self knows several hypostases, as can be seen in poems such as The morning, Many faces, Mirrors, Between mirrors, At the beginning, through open windows etc. The mirror changes into a thanatic area, which produces fear, into a place of superstitions, of fantastic figures, but also into a gateway to the sacred and to the origins.
