Abstract

Advisers were installed in key government institutions, and the intent of RAMSI was to work within the Solomon Islands government for reform and "good governance." But by 2017, when RAMSI ended, according to the Australian government's National Interest Analysis it was "was successful" in "restoring law and order", "rebuilding critical law and order institutions", "stabilizing government finances", "restoring business confidence", and "rebuilding the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF)." As the 20th anniversary of the commencement of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) passes by this month, there will be several narratives about RAMSI promoted in Solomon Islands and globally.
