Abstract
- The article examines John Owen's Latin Epigrammata collection which went through numerous editions in the U.K. and Europe. Topics include Owen's adoption of common satiric practice of using pseudonyms or initials to identify the many names in his epigrams, the corrections made by multiple editors of Epigrammata to the identification of Sir Toby Matthew, and an analysis of text of epigram 8.38.
