Abstract

The NICE guidelines did much the same, having identified those psychological treatments that were better than placebo, they proceeded to state whether they were effective in groups or best suited to individualized therapy, whether they were widely available, how long treatment would normally take and what could be the cost of a typical course of therapy. Since the RANZCP mood disorders guidelines[1] (MDcpg SP 2020 sp ) published recommendations for the use of psychological interventions to treat depression, some psychodynamic psychotherapists have raised concerns that we only included short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP) alongside other evidence-based psychological treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for the treatment of major depression.
